hi, to who it mayb concern, I am having the same problems with marketscore, they suck and yes,, giving issues with my comp. good luck to you!
:
I just spent the last 2 hours trying to get rid of marketscore (earlier known as netsetter) and here is what I did. Of course, the operating system and browser version might be different for others than what I am using, so FYI, I have XP home, and internet explorer 6.0. I have DSL broadband and Sygate 5.0 pro personal firewall (highly recommend the Sygate firewall because it did not mess with my OS and it easily uninstalls, unlike norton and mcafee).
: 1st: I had to uninstall my firewall because I could not connect to the internet due to the firewall locking up because of a connection permission failure from marketscore. (The firewall allows you to say yes or no to connections, and it wouldnt let me do either with marketscore). BTW im watching the denver-indi football game and WOW what a beautiful kick, in the snow, from mike to tie it for indi, 20-20.........ok back to this.
: 2nd: Finally connected to the internet, downloaded "Spybot v1.1" and it seemed to do its job of containing the marketscore spyware, so I decided to reinstall my firewall. Well, after doing so, my firewall would show that my connection through my internet explorer was still going through marketscores proxy, so I knew it was still on my system.
: 3rd: I searched for this file on my computer: ossproxy.exe
: (That is the executable file from marketscore that you downloaded).
: 4th: Deleted that file
: 5th: Restarted my computer, and Spybot still seemed to be doing its job of containing it, but every damn time I opened internet explorer, it was still going through marketscore's proxy.
: 6th: Ran across this website with directions for IE 5.0 but the same directions also worked with my IE 6.0 Here is the website: http://www.marioncomputer.com/internet/Help/netsetter.htm
: The directions worked and I no longer connect through marketscores proxy. BTW, I did notice a faster download through using them at some websites for game downloads, but not that much faster, and it wasnt worth the confliction with my firewall, nor the fact that they had spyware on my puter, even though I dont have anything to hide, my email would have probably been killed with spam!
: Good luck and I hope this works for everyone that runs across this. I learned my lesson; Never download internet accellerators!!! BTW, email marketscore and tell them where they can stick it =;-)
: HAHA Indi just won with another FG kick in the snow.
